Elementary Reading Team
Each year, students participate in the regional Interscholastic Reading Competition--which has been in existence since 1990--and provides over 1,600 students in grades 4 through 12 the opportunity to test their knowledge about the books they read. Students read books from a given list each fall and spring. At the competitions, students answer questions as a team to earn points.
The Elementary Reading Team is open to all 4th and 5th grade students. Students must read 6 books and pass a Reading Counts test on these books to participate. The team meets weekly on Thursdays from 3:50pm-4:30pm. There are two competitions--one in the fall and one in the spring.
