Windber Battles Blue Jays

Windber had junior Nate Horner on the mound. Horner threw 6 innings giving up only 3 runs. The Ramblers faced the Blue Jays’ senior pitcher Colin Markiewicz, who also threw a commendable game.

The Blue Jays were up, scoring all 3 of their runs in the first inning, while the Ramblers only put up 1 in the 1st.

Windber freshman right fielder Aiden Gray had 1 hit, freshman Cole Strick had 2, sophomore designated hitter Jake Reynolds had 2, junior first baseman Drew Pfeil had 1, junior shortstop Chase Vargo had 2, and senior left fielder Landan Gipe had one, for a combined 9 hits from the Ramblers.

Windber’s RBI’s came from Drew Pfeil, Chase Vargo, and Landan Gipe. Senior Jeremy Layton stole home for the Ramblers for 1 run in the 4th inning.

The Ramblers scored 2 in the 6th, which ended up being the winning runs.

The Rambler’s Cy Saylor came into pitch after Horner had reached his pitch limit, and Saylor threw flawlessly.

Windber’s Chase Vargo commented after the game, “Nate threw a great game, and Borgie, (Saylor) came in to shut it down. We came in and got the job done. We turned the bats on when we needed to and won the game.”

The Ramblers will take on the Blacklick Valley Vikings on Thursday, May 9th, at the Windber Baseball Field at 4:30. Come out and support our guys!
