Windber got on the board first when senior forward Caroline McClain scored in the first minutes of the game against the Cougars. Soon after, the Cougars had an answer, scoring their first goal of the night with 26 minutes left in the first half.
The two teams went to the locker rooms at halftime with the score tied at 1-1.
The Ramblers came out hot after the break with senior Caroline McClain scoring her second goal of the night just a few minutes into the second half.
The Ramblers weren’t done however, as freshman Anna Steinbeck scored her first goal of the night making the score 3-1. After that, the Lady Ramblers shut down the Cougars for the rest of the game with their lock down defense.
When asked about the game, senior captain Halle Bowden said, “We came into the game feeling confident. We knew what we had to do, and we got it done. For a lot of the players, most of them are freshmen, so they have never been in a playoff game, but for all the pressure, I thought they handled themselves very well and played amazingly, and we pulled out a win. I’m so proud of my girls.”
The Windber girls will advance to the next level of playoffs, with the date and opponent to be determined.
