School Safety and Mental Health Awareness Night

Date: November 21st, 2023

Time: 6:00 PM

Location: Windber High School Auditorium & Windber Elementary

Dear Families,

As part of our commitment to ensuring the safety and overall welfare of our students, we have organized an event designed to provide you with valuable insights into our school's safety plans and the comprehensive mental health support services available within our district. The School Safety and Mental Health Awareness Night will take place on November 21st, coinciding with parent-teacher conference night, offering you a convenient opportunity to participate. We will have sessions at both the ELEMENTARY school and the JR/SR High School. The presentations at each building will start at 6:00 pm.  The presentation for the elementary school will be held in the Library.  The presentation for the Jr/Sr High will be conducted in the auditorium.

What to Expect:

  • School Safety Presentation: You will have the opportunity to hear from a school administrator or security specialist who will discuss our school's safety plans and measures. They will provide insights into our emergency procedures and elaborate on the steps we take to maintain a secure environment for your children.
  • Mental Health Services Presentation: Our school counselors and mental health partners will present an overview of the mental health support services that are readily available within our district. This presentation will include details about the dedicated counselors, social workers, and resources that are in place to support the emotional well-being of our students.
  • Classroom Visit:  At the conclusion of the event, Mr. Tallyen will take interested families to a classroom to view some of the various safety upgrades we have in place in our schools.

The School Safety and Mental Health Awareness Night promises to be an informative and engaging gathering where you can learn more about the steps we are taking to keep our schools safe and the mental health support services we offer to all students. We believe that an informed and connected community is an empowered community, and we look forward to sharing this evening with you.

Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to our school community. We look forward to seeing you on November 21st.
