Windber Students Shine at Adagio Health Day at the Capitol

Members of the Windber Area School District Superintendent’s Advisory Council recently had an unforgettable experience as they traveled to Harrisburg to advocate as part of Adagio Health Day at the Capitol. This special opportunity allowed our students to engage directly with state leaders and elevate their voices on important topics related to student health and wellness.

We are especially grateful to Representative Jim Rigby for his generosity and leadership in meeting with our students, as well as their colleagues from Portage Area School District. Representative Rigby dedicated nearly an hour of his time to listen to, engage with, and encourage the students, offering them an inside look at the legislative process and demonstrating his sincere commitment to the youth of our region. His willingness to connect and share his insights made a lasting impact on the students and provided an invaluable learning experience.

We could not be prouder of our students for their passion, maturity, and growth in developing their advocacy skills. Their ability to speak confidently and thoughtfully about student health issues is a testament to their hard work and the supportive environment fostered by their teachers, families, and the Windber community.

As a district, we remain committed to creating opportunities for students to learn, lead, and raise their voices on the issues that matter most to them. This event was a shining example of how education goes beyond the classroom — empowering young people to become informed, engaged citizens who are ready to make a difference.

We thank Adagio Health for hosting this important event and extend our heartfelt appreciation once again to Representative Rigby for his time, leadership, and ongoing support of our schools and students.
