As part of our annual communication under Pennsylvania Act 84 of 2015, we are sharing important information about the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) — a valuable resource that may benefit many of our students and their families.
CHIP provides comprehensive health coverage for uninsured children and teens up to age 19, and here’s the great news: no family earns too much to qualify.
In Pennsylvania, nearly 128,000 children are currently uninsured, and CHIP is here to help. Whether your family needs coverage for the first time or you’ve experienced a recent change in insurance status, CHIP offers a trusted, affordable solution.
What Does CHIP Cover?
CHIP includes a wide range of health services, such as:
-
Routine doctor visits
-
Prescriptions
-
Dental and vision care (including eyeglasses)
-
Mental health services
-
Emergency care and more
CHIP is designed for children who are not eligible for Medical Assistance, and it’s either free or low-cost depending on your household income.
We encourage every family to review the attached flyer and consider whether CHIP could be a helpful option for your child’s healthcare coverage.
