Dear Windber Families,
In an effort to maintain a secure and prepared learning environment, I want to inform you that over the next several weeks, we will be conducting a series of safety drills and assemblies across the district, including bus evacuation drills. These activities will take place throughout September and October and are similar to the drills we conducted last year.
As part of these efforts, students will participate in a variety of safety exercises, including lockdown drills, rally point drills, and bus evacuation drills. In addition, we will be holding assemblies to review important safety procedures with students to ensure that everyone understands what to do in the event of an emergency.
These drills and informational sessions are a proactive measure to enhance the preparedness of our students and staff in case of any unforeseen circumstances. Please be assured that these activities will be conducted with the utmost sensitivity and care, with the primary goal of maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for everyone.
We also understand that discussions about safety can sometimes be sensitive, especially for younger students. We encourage you to have open conversations with your children at home to address any questions or concerns they may have. Our staff will be available to provide additional support and reassurance as needed.
Please also note that you may see an increased police presence on these days as part of our safety protocols and ongoing collaboration with local law enforcement.
For more details about our safety procedures and protocols, please visit the Safety and Security section of our district website: https://www.windberschools.org/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=3737212&type=d&pREC_ID=2434336
Thank you for your cooperation and support as we work together to prioritize the safety and well-being of our entire school community. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s school office.
Sincerely,
Dr. Michael J. Vuckovich
Superintendent
Windber Area School District
