Dear Windber Area Elementary Families,
I’m reaching out to share an exciting opportunity for our students. Windber Area Elementary will be launching an after-school tutoring program called the Brain Builders Club, projected to begin mid-February and no later than March 2nd.
The Brain Builders Club is a structured, small-group learning program designed to strengthen foundational skills in reading (ELA) and math for students who may benefit from additional targeted support. This program is not homework help—instead, it focuses on building the essential skills students need to be more confident and successful in the classroom.
What is Brain Builders Club?
Students will work in small groups with instruction tailored to their learning needs. Sessions will include engaging, hands-on learning activities and games that help reinforce important academic skills.
This program supports skills such as:
- Reading fluency, phonics/decoding, vocabulary, and comprehension
- Number sense, math facts, operations, and problem-solving strategies
Program Schedule (Planned)
- 2 sessions per week
- 60 minutes per session
- 3:15–4:15 PM
How students are selected
Students may be identified through benchmark assessments, teacher recommendations, and/or progress monitoring data.
Interested in this support for your child?
If you feel your child would benefit from participating in Brain Builders Club, I encourage you to:
- Speak with your child’s teacher, and/or
- Contact Mr. Beckley to learn more or to discuss whether this program is a good fit. You can email him at [email protected] or by calling the school at (814)467-4567.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. I’m looking forward to working together to help every student grow in confidence, skills, and success.
Sincerely,
Dr. Michael J. Vuckovich
Superintendent of Schools
