The Windber Area School District would like to inform families that the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) is approaching. These state assessments measure student learning in English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, and Science.
Testing Schedule:
-
ELA (Grades 3–8): April 20–22 (3 sections)
-
Math (Grades 3–8): April 27–28 (2 sections)
-
Science (Grades 5 & 8): April 29 (2 sections)
Participation in PSSA testing is required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for all students in the listed grade levels, including students participating in WOL or homeschool programs. Families in these programs will be contacted with details regarding testing logistics.
To support a positive testing experience, families are encouraged to ensure students are present each day during the testing window. Regular attendance helps students perform at their best and complete assessments without interruption.
Additional guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Education regarding testing expectations and electronic device policies is included in the materials being shared.
A hard copy of this information will be mailed to each family to ensure all households have access to these important details.
