At Windber Area School District, supporting students also means helping families connect with resources beyond the classroom. We are sharing two resource guides that bring together information about assistance available in Cambria and Somerset counties.
Whether you need support now, are helping a loved one, or simply want to know where to turn, these guides offer a helpful starting point.
Community Resources:
- The Community Resources guide includes contact information for organizations that assist with housing, rent and mortgage needs, utilities and heating, transportation, emergency shelter, and other household needs. It also identifies United Way’s 211 service as a way to connect with a resource specialist.
Food Resource Guide:
- The Food Resource Guide includes information about local food pantries, community meal programs, mobile food distributions, SNAP assistance, WIC, and programs serving children, families, and older adults. It includes a listing for the Windber Pantry and other locations throughout the two counties.
Finding the right support
Review the two documents included with this article and contact the listed organizations directly for current schedules, eligibility requirements, application information, and availability. Some dates in the guides reflect an earlier program season.
If you are unsure where to begin, please contact your child’s school counselor or school office for help identifying a starting point. Please share these resources with anyone who may benefit.
Every family deserves to feel supported and connected. Together, we can help our neighbors find the assistance they need.
