WINDBER STUDENTS WIN BERWIND MURAL CONTEST

Students with the winning mural submissions, along with their parents, and WASD Administration were invited to attend.  Mr. Robert Brumbaugh, Mrs. Margaret Nihoff, and Ms. Amanda Turner from Berwind were on hand to announce the winners and present prizes. A mural painter has been commissioned by Berwind to paint a replica of the 1st Place Winner, drawn by Emma York, on the side of the Berwind Buiding on 15th Street facing Graham Avenue. They hope for work to begin on the mural before the end of the summer.

Mr. Brumbaugh took the opportunity at this banquet to announce that Berwind Coal would be donating the funds necessary to construct a pavilion at the Windber Stadium. Mr. Joseph Kimmel, Superintendent of Schools, was taken by surprise by this generous offer and expressed the sincere appreciation of our district. Mr. Brumbaugh stated that Berwind would like to get more involved with the community and school district.
