The Panthers, led by head coach Don Fyfe and quarterback Brady Fyfe, started off early in the first quarter against the Ramblers, led by head coach Matt Grohal and quarterback Tommy Hanik, when Fyfe completed a 68-yard pass to sophomore Vince Fyock for the Shade touchdown with 11 minutes left in the first. Fyfe then completed a pass to senior wide receiver Austin Mauger for the two point conversion. The score at the end of the first was 8-0 Shade.
To start of the second quarter, Fyfe handed the ball off to Mauger for Shade’s first rushing touchdown of the game with 10:44 left in the half. In the middle of the quarter, Fyfe passed again to Fyock for a 70-yard pass and another Panther touchdown, to make the score 20-0. To end the quarter, Shade scored one more time when a fumble in the endzone was picked up by senior Matt Addleman for the Shade touchdown. The score at the end of the half was Shade 28 Windber 0.
The only score in the third quarter came from a pass from Fyfe to senior wide receiver Dawson Snyder with 6:36 left in the quarter, to make the score 36-0.
Shade scored one more time in the fourth quarter when Fyfe scampered for a 40-yard touchdown run. The Windber Ramblers weren’t silenced, though , when senior wide receiver Jeremy Layton ran for a 45-yard touchdown with a good two point conversion, to make the score Shade Panthers 44 Windber Ramblers 8.
Despite the loss, Windber saw many underclassmen such as freshmen Nathan Grohal, Brady Russo, Alex Stepp, Dom Waite, Dylan Tomlinson, and Gino Flori step up for the team.
The Ramblers had an amazing year, finishing off the season with a 5-6 record. Congratulations to the Ramblers on their season, and good luck next season.
The Shade Panthers improved their season record to 10-1, and will play the Conemaugh Township Indians on Friday, November 9th, at a neutral location to be determined.
