SITTING BULLS TAKE ON THE RAMBLERS!

Everyone is invited to attend a very exciting and fun event that will be occurring this evening at the Cambria County War Memorial. Some of our Senior High School students will be participating in an exhibition game against the Sitting Bulls Sled Hockey Team. Our very own Megan Ott is a member of the Sitting Bulls and we are very excited to have the opportunity for our students to get a peek into how skilled she and her teammates are and the outstanding skills they have as hockey players.

PUBLIC SESSION HELD: DANGERS OF VAPING

On Monday, March 25th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Windber Area MS/HS Auditorium - Rebecca Mull, Prevention Coordinator at Twin Lakes of Somerset County spoke at an informative session to provide parents awareness of the Dangers of Vaping & to better understand the signs & symptoms of vaping use, health risks, and current data trends of vaping.

GJCTC HOSTS WASD APPRECIATION EVENT

Greater Johnstown Career & Technical Center hosted a Windber Area School District Appreciation Event on Tuesday, March 19th. Windber students who attend GJCTC, along with their parents, and the WASD Administration and School Board were invited to this event.
A wonderful pasta bar was available for dinner. Following the dinner, the students in attendance gave a presentation about the program they are involved in at Vo-Tech. They shared their experiences in their fields and expressed their appreciation for being able to get a jump start on their careers. We thank Mr. John Augustine, Administrative Director and GJCTC for inviting us to this fantastic event. The regularly scheduled meeting of WASD School Board was held at VT last night.

HIGH SCHOOL FORENSICS REGIONAL & STATE RESULTS

Congratulations to the High School Forensics Team for an excellent performance at States:

A Huge congratulations to Veta Piscitella for placing 6th in the State in Poetry Interpretation and to Riley Page and Peyton Betcher for being State Runners Up (2nd place!!) in Duo Interpretation (and only TWO POINTS behind the State Champions!) We are so proud!
Dyllan Panetti was also a State Semi-Finalist (top 12) in Prose Interpretation.

Congratulations to the High School Forensics Team for another great performance at their Regional Tournament.
The following have qualified for Nationals in Milwaukee in May:
Dyllan Panetti- Regional Champion(1st place) in Prose (for the 2nd straight year)
Veta Piscitella- Regional Champion in Poetry
Peyton Betcher and Riley Page- 2nd place Duo Interpretation

Girls Junior High Volleyball Against North Star

The Girls’ Junior High-Varsity volleyball team was close to winning in their second match in their season so far but fell short two points in a hard-fought first set. The next set, the team wasn’t able to turn it around. The team had many good defensive and offensive plays, but fell short in the long run. The final score of the first set was 26-24. The final score of the second set was 25-9.

GIRLS VBB HEADED TO STATE PLAYOFFS

The Girls Varsity Basketball team has advanced to the 1st Round of the PIAA Playoffs. The girls will play Bellwood-Antis on Friday March 8th @ Hollidaysburg High School. Tip off is set for 5:00pm.

A pre-sale of tickets will be held in the H.S. office beginning Tuesday and ending Friday at 12:00pm. Ticket prices are $6.00 for Adults and $3.00 for Students.
