A MESSAGE FROM OUR NEW HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL - Mr. Matthew Voland

Hello Windber Area Students and Families,
It is with great pleasure that I am writing this letter to introduce myself as your new High School Principal. I am honored to be able to work in the Windber family. I know this is a great school district, and I am looking forward to working with a great community.

PARENTS: UPDATE POWER SCHOOL INFORMATION FOR EMERGENCY MESSAGING SYSTEM

The Windber Area School District is seeking updated demographic and contact information for its students. Please click the link below to update information and include each child you have attending school within the Windber Area School District. We will no longer be using the Blackboard Alert System after July 2021 and it is imperative that we have the correct contact information for any emergency information such as school closures, upcoming events, etc.

HELPING HOUSEHOLDS CONNECT DURING THE PANDEMIC

The Federal Communications Commission has launched a temporary program to help families and households struggling to afford Internet service during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Emergency Broadband Benefit provides a discount of up to $50 per month toward broadband service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers.

US News & World Report Award - WAHS

US News and World Report released their 2021 rankings of the Best Public High Schools in the United States. Windber Area High School continued to demonstrate its success in the rankings by being rated the highest-ranking local high school in the area, which includes Somerset, Cambria, Blair and Bedford counties.
Windber Area High School is ranked #1 locally, as well as the 177th best High School in Pennsylvania in the 2021 rankings, which includes 711 high schools across 500 public school districts. Windber also ranked 4,383rd nationally out of 17,857 high schools. Outdistancing all other local high schools.

Windber Public Library Student Study Hours

Attention Windber Area School Students: The Windber Public Library will be offering study hours between the hours of 2:30pm - 5:30pm during the days of Monday to Thursday. Masks are required as well as all other state guidelines for social distancing, 6 slots will be available on a first come/ first serve basis per day. Those wishing to attend may do so ONLY by calling the library directly at 467-4950 to make an appointment, this will allow for the utmost safety and sanitation guidelines for the well-being of everyone. You may also visit the Windber Public Library’s Website at windberlibrary.org at your convenience for useful information pertaining to tutoring and online student databases. PETS NOT PERMITTED AT ATHLETIC EVENTS

All pets on school district property must be leashed at all times. Pets are not permitted to be at the cross country course, baseball field, softball field, junior high football field, and other outside facilities while athletic events are going on and students are present with the exception of service animals with documentation. No pets are permitted within the fence at the stadium or the old track at any time. Also anyone walking their pets on school district property after school hours MUST clean up after their pets. Your cooperation will help us to avoid totally banning pets from district property.
